01 / OVERVIEW

The purpose

Artists and craftspeople need an accessible place to present their work. The idea is to make registration and listings free, with a commission model applied only to sales.

The approach

Built for CulTech 5 by a four-person team, ArtSpace Market connects the core journey from browsing and artist profiles to artwork uploads and demo reservations in one local application.

02 / My contribution

My contribution

I am responsible for development and IT within the team, working on translating requirements into the application, its technical structure, local setup and functional checks. Implementation is AI-assisted; I do not claim that all source code was handwritten.

03 / What it does

What it does

  • 01Registration, email login and user sessions
  • 02Artist profiles and a personal dashboard
  • 03Artwork uploads, editing, image validation and moderation
  • 04Search, category and price filters, and pagination
  • 05Demo orders and reservations with acceptance, rejection and cancellation
  • 06Configurable 5–15% commission, default 10%, and Django Admin

04 / How it is built

How it is built

Django 5.2 renders HTML on the server. Django Templates, Forms and Sessions handle the interface and account flows; the ORM uses SQLite. The accounts, artists, artworks, orders and core modules separate responsibilities. Media stays on the local filesystem. Transactions and database constraints protect order operations.

06 / Testing & limitations

Testing & limitations

The supplied archive contains account, artwork, order and concurrent reservation tests, with a report documenting 83 tests. Those Django tests were not rerun as part of this portfolio build. Orders and payments are simulated: no real money is charged. Real payments, delivery, email verification and seller verification are absent. SQLite has not been tested for high concurrent load. No public demo is currently available.
